Women: How To Stop Itching After Shaving Pubic Hair

HowToStopItchingAfterShaving

Overview

For women, shaving their pubic area is much different than shaving your legs or armpits. You require more patience and care because this area is thicker and more sensitive. A quick shave on your pubic area is risky and not recommended. Minimize the chances of itching afterward by properly and patiently shaving your pubic hair.

The Basics Of Shaving Your Pubic Area

Be patient since shaving your pubic region may take anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour, or perhaps longer if you’re new.

Step 1: Pick A Good Shaving Cream

Select a good shaving cream or gel. I highly recommend Elemis Skin Soothe Shave Gel, as it works very well against itching and irritation. You can purchase it by clicking here.

Step 2: Don’t Be Cheap On Your Razor

Besides a good shaving cream or gel, you must get a good razor. A razor with multiple blades is recommended. I highly suggest the Schick Quattro for women. You can buy it through Amazon by clicking here.

Step 3: Pre-Cut

Shave as much pubic hair as possible. The less hair you start out with, the better and faster the process is going to be.

Step 4: Shower Or Bathe Afterward

After trimming, take a warm shower or bath. Allow at least 15 – 20 minutes of heat to soak into your skin to relax and soften the hair follicles.

Step 5: Apply Your Shaving Cream Or Gel

Make sure that your skin is mildly wet before applying shaving cream or gel. After you’ve determined that you’re ready, apply the cream or gel you’ve purchased.

Step 6: Shave, Shave, and Shave!

With your fresh blade, go first in the same direction of the hair growth and then in the opposite direction. If your hair is growing down, shave down first. Afterward, shave up. Try not to go over the same area too many times.

Step 7: Rinse

If you’re razor is clogged, be sure to rinse it.

Step 8: Moisturize

After you’ve shaved and rinsed off, it is important that you moisturize with a good lotion. This step is very crucial as refusing to moisturize can lead you to very unpleasant itching and irritation. For such an occasion, I highly recommend Aveeno Active Naturals Daily Moisturizing Lotion. You can purchase it by clicking here.

Final Words

All these procedures came from a friend of mine who asked to remain anonymous. She’s followed these same procedures over the years and has not once itched or experienced irritation since then. If these steps worked for her, I’m confident that they will work for you too.
